Hand roll spicy tuna is one of our most popular kosher sushi dishes in Toronto. This is in part due to the delicious sauce that we use to spice the rolls.
Tuna is very familiar to Western palates, but it is most often eaten out of cans. While still healthy in its own right, canned tuna does not have all of the health benefits of tuna served in our kosher sushi restaurant because it is not as fresh. While it is true that tuna must be frozen to ensure that it is healthy for consumption, companies selling canned tuna must do more to remove the enzymes that help with digestion so that it can last longer on shelves.
“Spicy tuna” is made spicy by the sauce in which it is prepared. This sauce often includes other ingredients, such as scallions, as well as condiments, such as mayonnaise, which is typically mixed with Sriracha sauce, Korean hot sauce, or something similar. Together, these ingredients are wrapped in rice and create a unique blend that so many of our customers just can’t get enough of.
If you would like to get a feel for these ingredients but are sensitive to foods that are too spicy, be sure to ask us about some of our milder options. We want as many people as possible to enjoy this tasty option, but we know that some of them can handle spicier sauces than others.
