Hand rolls, or “temaki”, are a very popular version of sushi made in cone form. This is one of our most popular types of kosher sushi for our customers in Toronto.
Many of those who enjoy kosher sushi are drawn to hand rolls because of the variety of flavor that they have in every bite. Nori, or black seaweed, is wrapped around a variety of ingredients. These ingredients include fish (obviously), rice, and often a variety of vegetables. Hand rolls are best enjoyed immediately after they are made, though we can seal the nori so that it maintains its texture. Just remove the seal prior to eating.
Whether you enjoy temaki or prefer other types of kosher sushi, you would likely do well to include this in your party plates and major event orders. Those who have an aversion to fish may still enjoy this type of sushi because the fish flavor is somewhat covered up by the variety of other ingredients. For this reason, those who would like to eat sushi for the health benefits but don’t necessarily care for the taste of uncooked fish itself may prefer this option.
One thing that you may want to consider is that temaki often has its ingredients spilling out of one end of the roll. For adults, handling the food is quite easy, and this is not a problem. For young children, though, it may be more difficult to handle the rolls, though, which even adults eat with their fingers because the rolls are awkward with chopsticks.
If you would like to choose the ingredients in your hand rolls when ordering kosher sushi in Toronto, we are happy to accommodate. If, though, you aren’t sure which ones would work best, we can provide you with our most popular combinations among our customers.
